Ivan Choong
An engineer by training, Ivan started his career as a technician and stayed with the same company for 16 years before he left as a Senior R&D engineer.
Thereafter, he joined Ernst & Young LLP (EY) as a Management Consultant doing strategy, business process re-engineering and data analytics for 4 years before taking up his current position as a career coach & Senior Assistant Director with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Career & Attachment Office.
Having started from scratch and moving up the corporate ladder. Ivan realises the importance of taking charge of one’s career path and believes that everyone can find a career that is best suited for them.
From Engineering to Consulting and eventually Education sector, Ivan is able to position his transferable skills and transit across three different industries. Hence, he is a firm believer that if one is able to identify their niche and position well, he/she will be able to value add to the organisation and excel in their role.
With a strong passion in People’s Development, Ivan took up various certifications such as Jobs & Career Transition Coach (JCTC), a Certified Career Service Practitioner (CCSP) with National Career Development Association (NCDA) and Level 1 Point of You (POV).
Ivan has been invited by e2i, IEEE and NTUC to conduct webinars on career related matters. He has also been interviewed by CNA938, providing advice to those who have been retrenched. He also does pro-bono career coaching to mid-career switchers and is currently a volunteer career coach under the Leap programme (Legal & Employment/Employability @ Pioneer) with Pioneer SMC.
Ivan hopes to use his knowledge and experience to coach and help individuals navigate and find a career path that is best suited for them.
